📍 A continuous journey: from Córdoba to Barcelona

Moving from a career in accounting to web development, alongside my family and my life experiences.

👋 Getting to know Laura: a personal introduction

Hi, I’m Laura. I was born in Córdoba, Argentina, the middle child between two incredible siblings, and part of a close family that has always moved as one block.

My parents — who for now I will keep anonymous in case this blog ever goes viral 😂🤘 — gave everything so that we could study and grow up surrounded by love and opportunities.

This is the beginning of my story.

🏠 Childhood in Oncativo

Life in slow motion

I lived until I was 16 in a small town called Oncativo. I had a lovely, quiet childhood: no social media, no screens, no streaming (because none of that existed yet… although I am not that old either!).

It was a simpler life, more present. I have beautiful memories of that time: going to school with my siblings, then dance class, playing, an afternoon snack, a shower, dinner and off to bed.

I feel like life went by in another dimension, where minutes lasted hours.

🧳 The big move to Córdoba

When my older sister finished secondary school and decided to go to university, the possibility of her moving to the city on her own came up.

But we are like that: we move as one block.

So the whole family moved to the city of Córdoba.

That was my first big life change.

💗 Teenage years, love and university

My university life

I finished secondary school in the city of Córdoba, and that is where I met the boy who would become my boyfriend… and today is my husband.

We first crossed paths at school when we were 16, but we only got together after the first year of university.

We both studied Accountancy at the National University of Córdoba.

Studying always came easily to me and, honestly, I enjoyed university life: studying with friends, sitting exams, spending hours on campus.

It was a happy stage, even though the degree was already starting to show me it was not for me.

Back then, of course, I did not see it that clearly.

✈️ A one-way ticket

Barcelona: the start of a new adventure

Once we graduated, we decided to do an MBA in Barcelona, Spain.

We got married at 24 and left with a one-way ticket.

And that is how another big stage of my life began.

We never went back to live in Argentina. We visit whenever we can, but our life is here now, in Barcelona: the city that took us in, challenged us, and watched us build our family.

📚 Closing this chapter

A new beginning: reflections and next steps

I do not know for certain where this new path is going to take me, but for the first time in a long while I feel like I am walking towards something that really represents me.

Learning again, getting things wrong, starting from scratch in another country… it sounds challenging, but also very alive.

This is only the first stretch of a journey that is just beginning.

It is not about getting there fast any more, it is about discovering with purpose.

🔜 In the next articles I will tell you more about the process, the tools I am using, how I organise things with my family (which I have not told you about yet 😉) and the doubts — and bugs! — I keep running into.

Thanks for reading this far.

See you in the next post of this series 👩‍💻✨
