About me

A turn of 180 degrees

Former chartered accountant, mum, and a developer under construction. This is the story of why I decided to start over.

🌿 About me

My name is Laura Montironi. I was born in Córdoba, Argentina, where I studied and graduated as a Chartered Accountant at the National University of Córdoba – Faculty of Economic Sciences.

Six months after graduating, I moved to Barcelona with my husband, whom I met in the last two years of school at La Salle in Córdoba. We studied the same degree together at university and we never separated. Once in Barcelona, I carried on studying and did an MBA at EAE Business School.

My career looked clear, tidy and logical. Finance, numbers, planning, growth. Everything fitted… at least from the outside. But on the inside, something never quite settled.

There was always a question that kept coming back, however hard I tried to ignore it: Do I actually like this? Do I enjoy what I do?

I never gave myself time to listen to it. I had to keep going, keep moving, keep delivering. On top of that mental jumble there was the daily challenge of living in another country, far from my family, my friends and everything familiar. Adapting, performing, holding it all together… without stopping.

Years went by and I became a mother 👶. And that was when everything I had pushed into the background started making noise. A lot of noise.

My doubts, my fears and the exhaustion of not feeling aligned… it all blew up. It was not comfortable. It was not tidy. But for the first time, instead of covering it up, I listened to it.

The pause that motherhood gave me came with something I had never had before: time to really think. Time to ask myself who I was, what I wanted, and how I wanted to live my professional life.

The answer did not come immediately, but it was clear: I needed a deep change. A turn of 180 degrees.

That is how I started moving towards technology and programming 💻. Afraid, guilty, with impostor syndrome, with a thousand doubts… but also with a curiosity I had not felt in years, and an excitement that gave me energy back.

💡 Why “Mi Camino Dev”?

Because it is not only about learning to code. It is about learning to rebuild myself professionally, to sit with uncertainty, to be a beginner again, to get things wrong without having all the answers.

This blog exists as a way of writing down everything this process involves:

  • 📚 Technical learnings
  • 🧠 Mental blocks and how I work through them
  • ❌ Mistakes that teach me something
  • 🚀 Small wins along the way

This is not the blog of someone who “already made it”. It is the blog of someone who is walking the path, step by step.

So… this is my journey. Thanks for walking it with me 🤍
